Itinerary

We meet participants at our predetermined trailhead about 2 hours north of Toronto for our overnight experience. Guests will be greeted by our two friendly Luna guides with hot chocolate waiting. Our easy pace will guide you through winter comfort and safety, dressing for the weather, and snowshoeing basics. All this before we load the toboggans and begin the relaxed trek into our overnight camp.

Once at our lakeside campsite we will enjoy a hot beverage, lunch and then the real fun begins! For the afternoon you will learn and participate in the skills and methods of setting up our hot tent camp. These include finding and processing firewood, chiseling a hole in the ice, and making the common tent ’home’ for the night. In the evening we can warm ourselves by a wood stove as we enjoy a delicious dinner. Hot tent camping is luxurious! Even though temperatures outside are cold, inside it is t-shirt weather! After dark, if you choose, an evening snowshoe amongst the stars is a great way to end the day and with luck we might hear wolves howl.

The next day there is plenty of time for photography and winter enjoyment in this introductory experience. Following lunch we break camp and toboggan back to the vehicles. Our goal in this winter weekend is to give you the skills and confidence to try it on your own or graduate to a longer trip. Most of all, you will have enjoyed an authentic Canadian experience like no other.
